WHAT TO DO
The river of Foixà divides the locality into two centres: the town and the church, both of which are rich in historical heritage.
HISTORICAL HERITAGE
The oldest remains in Foixà date from the 13th century. The best testimony of this is its castle which rises imposingly as a watchtower, and from which one can see the territories of the old county of Empúries. The gothic building of Can Planiol (16th century) and the various entrance gates which stand testament to the old medieval walls also stand out.

CUISINE
To truly get to know the cuisine of this town, which takes in the culinary influences of the region one cannot forget Georgina Regàs’s publication La cuina de festa major i altres plats de la Lola de Foixà (‘Cooking for Patronage Festivals and Other Dishes by Lola de Foixà’), illustrated by the artist Ricard Opisso, which presents us with traditional recipes from the region, such as stuffed apples, small dishes, goose with turnips or the celebrated brunyols.
